Self Sufficient Questions And Answers

As the site is beginning to grow we have been getting a few questions directed to us about all aspects of leading a more Self Sufficient life.

Some have been via Twitter, some via email and some just natural questions that arise because of the topic that was written about.

This Wednesday we will trial a little questions and answers post.

How It Will Work

The process will be quite simple. On Wednesday there will be a post with all the questions asked and the answers to them (if we know them)!

You can ask about any aspect of Self Sufficiency.

From the many aspects of raising chickens, compost related questions, Solar/Wind Power, Preserving, Growing Vegetables, Frugal Tips etc etc. You get the idea.

Ask anything you think is related to becoming Self Sufficient and we will do our best to answer.

How To Ask The Questions?

Either leave your question in the comments section below, or you can ask by going to my Twitter page and ask via a Direct Message. You can direct it at either one of us or take pot luck.

If it goes well it may become a weekly feature. Ask anything you like. There are no daft questions only questions you don’t know the answer to.

So, who has the first question?

For a more self sufficient future

  1. In response to your Tweet – I’m curious about the apparatus that converts the power from the solar panels into useable power for your home. How does that actually work?

I (finally) thought of a question… Is there anything I can use as a dishwasher powder/tablet substitute? I’ve heard about using vinegar to use as rinse aid, however is there anything I can use instead of the expensive powders and tablets?

    Thanks 🙂

Compost: if ya don’t turn it, how do you keep from accumulating an ever-higher pile of stuff? Should one have many, many small piles with advancing expiration dates?

My current technique is bigger and bigger pile until I get tired of it, and then I hack it apart and scoop out whatever looks good. This strikes me as inefficient. 😉
